With music throughout the venue across all of the sessions there will always be a soundtrack to your session whether you like to relax and let the tunes wash over you or jump up and move, they'll be sounds and scenes all over the place! More details on who's playing which sessions to follow shortly, but be warned they're all awesome!

From Roll Your Own Records, a local DJ collective spinning an eclectic mix of different genres. Always banging, always awesome!

Our opening event on Thursday 24th October sees a legend of Bedfords music scene playing a mammoth 5 hour set, digging deep into the crates as he takes us on a musical journey through the decades. Since buying his first record as a kid (a crisp new copy of Talking Heads - Once in a lifetime), Mark has been hooked on music - As a collector, dj, producer, club promoter and event curator...  A love affair with dance music developed out of the early warehouse raves around ’88/’89 …. As a DJ Mark went onto hold residencies for More Tea Vicar, Gods Kitchen & LTJ Bukem’s Logical Progression playing some of the UK’s legendary venues - Ministry of Sound, Turnmills and The End. Mark’s djing lead to production opportunities with Robert Owens, Moloko & Craig David, and releases for MoS, Hed Kandi & Good Looking Records… Mark has been involved in the Bedford music scene since his University days, with club nights Club Momacoca & Suburban Beats both held at Esquires (featuring the likes of Fabio & Grooverider, LTJ Bukem, Portisheads Andy Smith). More recently as resident DJ for Bedford Park Concerts (Café Mambo, Soul II Soul, Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Billy Ocean, UB40). Summer 2018 saw the addition of The Dance Music Stage at the Bedford River Festival, organised by Mark & good friend Martin Carvell featuring Danny Rampling, Fabio, Seb Fontaine, Bill Brewster & a host of fantastic local DJ’s. Mark has a real passion for broadcast and currently presents a weekly Sunday morning show on Bedford’s In2beats FM playing soul, jazz & funk.

Friday kicks of with DJ Sam Voidoid setting the scene. The former resident at Bedford's longest ever standing club night 'Loaded' at The Pad, Sam will be laying down select cuts ranging from the best in brand new music, indie, bootleg releases and beats, piecing the evening together between two special live guests.

Taking to the stage at 8.30pm will be non other than one man Son Of Dave. The Canadian musician formerly cut his teeth as part of Grammy winners The Crash Test Dummies, before going solo in 2000 with his own unmistakable sound. Described as cotton-pickin’ blues, vocalising beat-box, hard-breathing folk, steamy funk and even modern R&B, Son Of Dave is a musician you need to see to believe, mixing up a range of original works and covers which were featured on Jools Holland a few years ago.

Friday's headliners are one of the most popular bands in the area and should need little introduction. On the back of a recent sell out show at Esquires and a busy summer of festival appearances, The Ouse Valley Singles Club will take to the stage for a set filled with songs about Bedford Rascals, Central Heating issues and Racist Dogs among many other topics! They take the traditional basic sound of Skiffle along with Folk, Funk, punk, Soul and Rock n Roll and combines it with with saucy British postcard humour. Their sound has been described as George Formby meets the The Clash and is a Cabaret show in the tradition of Music Hall and Working Men’s club values - all we know is you don't want to miss it.

Our afternoon session kicks into action with quite simply the finest turntablist and selector in the area, DJ Mass C. Mass will be cutting up between Old Skool Hip Hop, Breaks, Soul, Funk and classic RnB with a few surprises thrown in for good measure.

King Purple are our first band of Saturday evening, bringing their brand of up to date psych infused indie to the Hops & Dreams stage. A band going from strength to strength, they recently sold out Northampton Roadmender and head over to France as part of their tour next month, having just released a brand new highly acclaimed single 'Warning Signs'. One of the local bands that could possibly break through in the next few months, we rate them highly - don't miss their set!

Closing Hops & Dreams on Saturday evening, we're very excited to be welcoming The Brass Funkeys to Bedford. The Brass Funkeys are an 8-piece London-based Brass Band who draw on the traditions of New Orleans. Formed in 2011, they have played at major festivals including Glastonbury, Wilderness and the North Sea Jazz Festival as well as London venues including The O2 Brooklyn Bowl, Koko Camden, and Ronnie Scott's. The band's sets are packed full of their own compositions as well as brass band takes on some of the biggest tunes of all time - If you're not dancing by the time they're finished, we'll eat our own trumpet!
